Group Health Touts Own Abortion Clinic to Attract Residents

If anyone still thinks that abortion is an isolated, never discussed part of mainstream medical practices, all they need to do is a little research to discover that abortion is part and parcel of the establishment medical system.

Group Health is just one example. They are very proud of the abortions they do and don't try to hide it.

Here in the Program Highlights from Family Medicine Residency program with learn about the "Group Health Abortion Clinic" where, "...all residents participate in an opt-out rotation at Planned Parenthood and a small private clinic to train in counseling, early dating ultrasounds, medical and surgical abortions. Additional training is available in the Group Health abortion clinic and at other sites for those interested in additional experience."

We have heard from one woman who had an abortion at Group Health and, though she asked us not to reveal any details about it, we can say that it was an unwanted abortion and it was a horrific experience. We also have been informed that their "Abortion Clinic" in downtown Seattle is actually a ward on the 6th floor complete with bullet proof glass.

Abortion Toady Rep Clibborn Humiliated by Testimony at 'More Dead Babies' Act Hearing

It's a wonder Washington State Rep. Clibborn didn't crawl under her desk and cry like a baby. Clibborn is the prime sponsor of HB1366, the bill given to her by the abortion industry to destroy the pro-life pregnancy centers that cut their business by 6% last year. On Monday afternoon, the House Health Committee held a hearing on the bill. Supporters of the state's pregnancy centers turned out by the hundreds, packing the room, and filling the hallways.

The bill imposes some ridiculous requirements on pregnancy clinics that don't kill unborn babies, and then sets up a legal open season on them by creating unprecedented grounds for them to be sued, by almost anyone, with crippling damages.

We present a transcript of one particularly noteworthy testimony that exposed Clibborn's diabolical agenda and laid it bare for all the world to see.

I'm John Panesko. I'm just an attorney from the community. I'm a former prosecutor. I'm not affiliated with either side, but I was asked to read a copy of this bill, and it made an impression on me, and that's why I'm here.

I'm glad as a lawyer I don't have to post on my door all the things I don't provide, but if somebody asked me if they wanted a divorce, I'll tell them, 'No, I don't do divorces; go somewhere else'

What's the harm? But back to this bill...

I read it and I believe the enforcement part of this bill will put pregnancy centers out of business and I'll tell you five reasons why..

DSHS Knowingly Violating Hyde Amendment, Using Federal Tax Dollars to Fund Abortions

In this exclusive report, AIW can now reveal the results of an investigation into Washington and other states in which we have learned that they are routinely violating federal law.

Since 1976, it has been illegal to use federal Medicaid money to pay for abortions. States that opted to subsidize the abortion industry through Medicaid had to make sure to carefully segregate funds so that abortions were only paid for out of state Medicaid dollars. (Medicaid is a federal program with a complicated funding formula, but in brief, it's funded from a mix of federal and state monies.)

But the Medicaid program also includes a relatively little-known program called "Medicaid Transportation". This program pays for the travel costs to and from medical appointments that are covered by Medicaid. The rationale is, apparently, that a doctor appointment is no good if you can't get to it.

Since states like Washington (and California and New York) pay for abortions under Medicaid, the travel to and from the abortion clinic is also picked up by the Medicaid program.

Readers may remember our coverage of the scandal last year in which a Ballard High School student was taken from school for an abortion without her parents' knowledge, all arranged by the schools' "Health Clinic" (run by Swedish Hospital). During this investigation we also discovered that Hopelink, an organization that milks unwitting churches and other groups into partnership to help feed the hungry, is running secret "Abortion Taxis" that shuttle girls and women to and from abortion clinic appointments, often without their parents' knowledge.

Abortion Lobby Gets Desperate; Lies About CPCs While Hiding own Misconduct

In what can only be described as an act of desperation just as the country reels in shock at the discovery of what goes on at unregulated abortion clinics, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and the ACLU are now disseminating false information about crisis pregnancy centers in an attempt to convince legislators that they need to "regulate" CPCs.

In a press release issued January 19, this consortium of abortion zealots stated that CPCs:
"put women’s health at risk when they withhold test results and give inaccurate information about pregnancy, reproductive health, or options."
The fact of the matter is that CPCs don't withhold test results or other health information from women. The only time a CPC would do such a thing is in the case of potential fraud, i.e. a woman is attempting to gain access to DSHS benefits by bringing in a sample of another woman's urine. This is something pro-abortion activists have also been known to do to try and trap the CPCs.

It's laughable that that this consortium of abortion cheerleaders would accuse the CPCs of giving "inaccurate information about pregnancy, reproductive health, or options." It would appear to be a case of accusing others of doing what you are most guilty of. A quick visit to this link containing a detailed interview with one abortion client at a Washington State Planned Parenthood will leave you crying out for Representatives Mary Helen Roberts and Tami Green, for example, to pass legislation regulating Planned Parenthood.

But instead they are sitting down with Planned Parenthood coming up with crushing regulations on pro-life pregnancy centers!

Here's just a quick list of some of the other deceptions we've heard from inside the state's abortion clinics and from abortionists themselves:

  • It's not a baby.
  • You've got to have the abortion right away.
  • It's just a blob of tissue.
  • Abortion is safer than childbirth.
  • Contraception is safer than childbirth.
  • No, you can't see the ultrasound.
  • Plan B isn't an abortifacient.
  • Abortion doesn't hurt.
  • Abortion causes no long term negative side effects.
  • Going on contraception will prevent you from coming back for another abortion.

We might also add that women who are crying before, during and after an abortion are in most cases NOT rescheduled or referred to organizations or people that offer services other than abortion. Women who tell the abortionist to stop are instead told to shut-up or "it's too late." Women in tears are ignored.  No other business that we know of, except for maybe prostitution and pornography, ignores the pleas of women to the extent that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry do.

Regarding access to medical records, getting Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities to turn women's health records over isn't exactly a walk in the park from what we've heard. There are frequent reports in the media about medical files thrown out in dumpsters and landfills. We know of at least one woman who was unsuccessful in ever gaining access to her abortion medical file.

Call these Legislators TODAY

The "More Dead Babies Act" introduced last week in the Washington State Legislature can be stopped, but you need to speak up. It is currently before the Health Committees in both the House and the Senate. The best way to stop it is to kill kill it in either committee.

The Democrats -- also known as the political arm of the abortion industry -- control both branches, and so have majorities on both committees. In the House, the breakdown is 7-4; in the Senate, 5-4. Assuming we have all the Republican onside, that means we need 1 Democrat on the Senate committee and 2 on the House to see the light.

House
Starting with the House, 6 of the 7 Democrats are co-sponsors. The non co-sponsor is Troy Kelley. Rep. Kelley is from Pierce County and beat pro-life attorney Steve O'Ban with under 53% of the vote, so there's a good chance we can get a no vote out of him. Call him at (360) 786-7890.

Of the remaining co-sponsors, there are two worth focusing on. The first is Kevin Van De Wege. Rep. Van De Wege is from Jefferson County, is a liberal Democrat, and has reportedly been hostile to pregnancy center staff who have tried to educate. He also co-sponsored the bill last year. All that bodes ill, but he is the only other Dem on the committee besides Kelley who wasn't endorsed by NARAL/Planned Parenthood. Call him at 360.786.7916.

The other one to try to talk sense to is Tami Green. While she received $2,800 from NARAL last election, was endorsed by the abortion lobby, and is a co-chair of the Health Committee, on the other hand she only won re-election by 1,200 odd votes (51.5%), also in the same district as Kelly, not-too-liberal Pierce County. There's a chance she might be able to understand the political calculus if you call her at 360.786.7958.

Senate
On the Senate side, unfortunately all of the Democrats on the Health & Long-Term Care are co-sponsors. The best two to contact may be Ed Murray and Craig Pridemore. Murray's a surprising one: he's a radical homosexual activist, but last time around he voted the right way and even indicated to pregnancy center advocates that he would be a hypocrite if supported "minority rights" for homosexuals, and then turned around and persecuted Christians.

He needs to be reminded of his own words. Call him at 360.786.7628.

Finally, Pridemore represents an urban Vancouver district. While he won re-election quite comfortably, it's possible that he's sufficiently far from the Seattle sanity vacuum that he could be capable of seeing sense and doing the right thing. Call Pridemore at 360.786.7696.

It's best if you're from their district, but since these folks are on the all-important Health Committees, they represent everyone in the state in a sense. Imagine what kind of impact 10,000 calls on this bill would have?

If you've never called your legislator before, now is a great time to start. Do not be afraid. They work for you. If you don't like confrontation, just tell them you are deeply troubled by the bill to shut down crisis pregnancy centers ("HB 1366" in the House) and you want them to vote it down.

Study: Washington State Most Pro-Abortion State in the Union

Confirming what those of us in Washington State already knew, a new study by Americans United for Life placed Washington dead last in a ranking of states based on protections for human life.

The top state was Oklahoma.

Contributing to Washington's last position was the fact that the state is one of the few that voluntarily pays for abortions at any stage, for any reason out of Medicaid funds, even with the existence of a multi-billion dollar deficit. You can even get taxi rides to abortion clinics from school and back without your parents' knowing, paid for by the taxpayers, and government officials say: "So What?"

Washington is also one of the only states without any legal restrictions or regulations on the abortion industry whatsoever. It's possible that every abortion clinic in the state is run like Kermit Gosnell's abortion mill in Philadelphia: how would we know? The abortion industry is not only allowed to "regulate itself" -- how many industries in Obama's America are allowed to do that? -- but abortion chain operators like Planned Parenthood and Cedar River Clinics actually get together on a regular basis with DSHS officials to map out state health policy!

Share this Post with your Legislator: Botched abortions, malpractice, and dead women

The recent story about abortionist Dr. Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia reminded us here at AIW about all the quacks that operate in Washington state. Go read the article just so you are familiar with the horrific conditions inside his "clinic". Unfortunately, stories like Dr. Gosnell's are not uncommon among abortionists even here in Washington.

It's important to note that licensing agencies and others with authority were warned about Gosnell,
The grand jury investigation revealed that, for over two decades, government health and licensing officials had received repeated reports about Gosnell’s dangerous practices. However, no action was ever taken, even after the agencies learned that Mrs. Mongar had died during routine abortions under Gosnell’s care (see related story).
Put your legislator on notice. This post will give them a little window into what's really going on and suggest that instead of the trying to shut down the state's crisis pregnancy centers they go after the real criminals.

We've looked back over our records of first hand accounts from people who have been inside the state's abortion mills. Here's what we have so far:
-- Robert L. Kothenbeutel. Cedar River ClinicsLaw suit brought in 2010 by a woman who claims that, "Dr. Kothenbeutel and Cedar River Clinics were ill equipped to handle Maria Diel's late term termination the termination was negligently performed. Maria Diel lost an excessive amount of blood and was taken from Cedar River Clinics by ambulance to Valley Medical Center where a hysterectomy was performed to save her life." The unborn child was 26 weeks.

Pro-Aborts, Dems Drop Heinous Anti-CPC Bill on Olympia

We got word from Olympia today that the abortion lobby and their allies in the Washington State Democratic Party have, as expected, just reintroduced a bill they tried to pass last year but never got out of committee. The bill is designed to destroy Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) that offer safe and compassionate health care to women in need while leaving the filthy, manipulative, chop-shops staffed by quacks free to ply their deadly trade unmolested.

(Here's the text of the House Bill HB1366. Senate Bill is here.)

The Family Policy Institute of Washington has provided a good summary of the effects of the legislation:

1. It creates two classes of medical/pregnancy centers based on whether or not they provide abortion services.

2. Requires centers that do not provide abortion services to disclose that fact in five different languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Cambodian, and Laotian) in 30 point font on the front door of the centers, and on any advertisement or notice promoting the centers services.

3. Creates regulations and liabilities associated with medical records that do not apply to any other medical/pregnancy centers in Washington State.

4. Creates a private cause of action (lawsuit) against pregnancy centers for violations of any of the above regulations. In lawsuits against pregnancy centers: (1) anyone can be an aggrieved party even if you have never been in or even seen a pregnancy center; (2) there is no need to prove damages; (3) those who sue a pregnancy center can collect legal fees from the center if they win; (4) but pregnancy centers cannot collect legal fees if they win.

In summary, this bill creates significant liability for non-profit, faith-based, pregnancy centers that receive no tax dollars and provide at least $16 million in free services to communities in Washington simply because they do not offer abortion services. The stated reason is that they are afraid that women who are looking for an abortion will go to one of these centers. Why the attention of the Washington State legislature is required to prevent that from happening is something each of us can ponder for ourselves.
Most craftily, for purposes of seeking damages against CPCs and shutting them down, it defines "person" as "counties or other municipalities". No doubt the City or Seattle and King County would quickly move to shut down all CPCs that didn't have a huge 30-point font size sign in Laotian, Chinese, Russian, Spanish and Arabic stating they don't pass out the sacred condom or offer babies for live sacrifice.

Jill Stanek, who is following similar efforts in NYC, doubts that such a radical bill will pass even in the abortion capital of America. She sites the bad PR from NARAL's recent granting of an A- to NY for abortion advocacy, the report from the New York City Department of Health that a staggering 41 percent of all pregnancies in NYC ended in abortion in 2009, and the fact that abortions are on the rise after a 20 year decline.

How's that compare with Washington?

Pro-lifers Rock Olympia for 2011 March for Life; Pro-Aborts not so much

I attended the March for Life in Olympia yesterday. Here's a great picture that was sent to me. It was taken with a wide angle lens. "With a wide angle lens this photographer went to the Hall of Justice steps, to the top of the steps, and couldn't get the whole crowd in one photo."

Here's coverage from the Olympian, which ain't half bad considering they seem to love the abortion industry most days. However, they only estimated the crowd at 4,500. According to my sources the campus police said if the steps of the legislature building were covered with people, that would be 5,000. It was at least 7,000 by my estimation.

The new archbishop, Peter Sartain, of the Archdiocese of Seattle was on hand. Here he is with Karen Rotter from the pro-life committee at St. Michael Parish and Leigh a representative of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign.

And, well, the pro-aborts just couldn't muster much enthusiasm for their cause.

Gregoire Restores Funding to Planned Parenthood, Cuts Billions Everywhere Else

Confirming once again that the Washington State Governor's Mansion is little more than the Olympia office of Planned Parenthood, Governor Christine Gregoire just decided to preserve the state's "Take Charge" free birth control program.

We have exposed how the program, now in its 10th year, has done almost nothing to reduce the rate of unwanted pregnancies, births to low-income women, or abortions, but has become a massive, multi-million dollar slush fund for Planned Parenthood affiliates of Washington.

As everyone now knows, the state has been facing a budget deficit in the billions, and state legislators have been forced to cut spending on a host of health and education programs, even those which are widely supported, and which help the truly sick and destitute.

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) gave Gregoire a list of programs for possible elimination. The Take Charge program was in that list, raising hopes that the scandalous scheme would be eliminated once and for all, and abortion clinics would start closing immediately.

But, alas, Gregoire decided to cut the state's Basic Health Plan, which covers 66,000 otherwise uninsured Washingtonians, rather than cut birth control payments to Planned Parenthood.

She cut the Children’s Health Program, which was helping 27,000 kids. But Planned Parenthood's sacred cow was untouched.

She chose to eliminate Disability Lifeline grants to 28,000 people each month who are temporarily disabled and who can’t work, rather than cut the Planned Parenthood CEO Cadillac plan.

She chose to eliminate the Disability Lifeline Medical Program, but not the Abortion Industry Slush Fund.

Gregoire cuddling former NARAL
director Karen Cooper
She thought it better to reduce in-home Medicaid personal care, which benefits 45,000 people, who will now have to look elsewhere for assistance with bathing, dressing, medication management and other activities. But the Planned Parenthood spendapalooza? Not on your life.

She slashed public education funding in every direction. But free birth control that essentially ends up as millions of dollars in Planned Parenthood's Abortion Clinic Expansion Program was off the table.

You get the idea.

"Take Charge" -- which is exclusive to Washington State, and started in the George W Bush administration -- is an 'experimental' Medicaid program which provides a year's supply of birth control to women who would normally be ineligible for Medicaid because of income at taxpayer's expense.

Most women enrolled in the program get their contraceptives through Planned Parenthood, so it is this organization which ends up getting paid. PP makes huge profits on oral contraceptives sales, and so the program has been a cash cow for them for a decade.

For example, in 1998, Planned Parenthood of Western Washington was pulling in about $5m each year in program revenue. Ten years later, in 2008, that figure had rocketed up to over $25m. In their 2006 annual report, they admitted that fully 70% of their clients the previous 5 years had been Take Charge participants.

PPWW has used these millions in revenue to expand their network of clinics, all of which provide or abortions or at least close the abortion sale.

Defenders of the program argue that all those women on free birth control adds up to fewer unplanned pregnancies, fewer Medicaid-paid births, and fewer abortions. As hard as it may be for contraceptive ideologues to accept this, the numbers are in, and the truth is just the opposite.

In 1999, before the program, Medicaid was paying for 32,000 births each year, at a cost of less than $200 million. Now it's 42,000, at a cost of over $330 million.

Before the program began, Medicaid paid for over 10,000 abortions in Washington. At the program's peak, that figure crossed 14,000, with Planned Parenthood doing an increasing share of those. It's not known how many abortions PPWW was committing back in 1999, but the figure grew from about 6,000 to about 9,000 at one point during the program, due in part to their massive new reach.

Renton Abortion Clinic Being Sued for Botched 26-week Abortion

This blog has just learned that Washington State's most horrific abortion clinic is in the middle of another scandal. Cedar River Clinics is being sued for medical malpractice for a late-term abortion that almost killed the mother and left her unable to have children.

The doctor who performed the late-term abortion was Robert L. Kothenbeutel.

According to court documents, on December 13, 2007, Maria Diel of Pierce County came to Cedar River in Renton -- also known as the Feminist Women's Health Center -- to have her "25+ week" baby killed by the brutal abortion procedure known as dilation and evacuation. This is medical-speak for forcing the mother's cervix open enough so that the 'doctor' can go in with a forceps and rip the baby's legs and arms off and pull them out. Here is one description of the procedure:

Dilation and Evacuation (D & E)
Similar to a D & C abortion, this method also necessitates the forced dilation of the cervix. Metal forceps with a sharp cutting edge are used to grasp and pull the baby from the womb. The entire body is removed piece by piece. Because the baby's skull has typically hardened to bone by this time it must sometimes be compressed or crushed in order to be removed from the uterus. As a result, women undergoing this procedure have a higher risk of cervical laceration. Ironically, even some abortionists find this procedure distasteful, as the process of using forceps to twist and tear the baby's body from the womb is undeniably traumatic.

Another description is from former late-term abortionist Dr. Tony Levatino, where he goes into detail about removing the baby's skull:
The toughest part of a D&E abortion is extracting the baby’s head. The head of a baby that age is about the size of a plum and is now free floating inside the uterine cavity. You can be pretty sure you have hold of it if the Sopher clamp is spread about as far as your fingers will allow. You will know you have it right when you crush down on the clamp and see a pure white gelatinous material issue from the cervix. That was the baby’s brains. You can then extract the skull pieces. If you have a really bad day like I often did, a little face may come out and stare back at you.

Because the baby is so developed at 25 weeks, and his or her bones are hard, and so much force is involved, it's quite easy to lacerate the mother's uterus, or other organs. It seems something very much like this happened when Dr. Kothenbeutel was dismembering Mrs. Diel's baby.

The court documents allege that:
"Dr. Kothenbeutel and Cedar River Clinics were ill equipped to handle Maria Diel's late term termination the termination was negligently performed. Maria Diel lost an excessive amount of blood and was taken from Cedar River Clinics by ambulance to Valley Medical Center where a hysterectomy was performed to save her life."

The case is still at an early stage, and further medical facts will be brought out at trial. The parties have agreed to arbitration, as opposed to a jury trial, so maximum damages are $1 million.

Alas, Mrs. Diel's attorneys will be hard pressed to prove that Kothenbeutel and Cedar River were 'ill equipped' to handle late-term abortions like this, because they have in fact committed hundreds, if not thousands.

According to a 2002 “study” published in the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Kothenbeutel reported doing just under 200 Dilation & Evacuation abortions in just a 6 week period.

We will bring you further details as they emerge. Meanwhile, this story can't be comforting to future would-be clients of this abortion mill.

Is This Post Illegal?

This last Monday in a Kent courtroom, the Constitution prevailed over a shocking attempt to silence this blog by a prominent local doctor linked to the region's most controversial abortion clinics. This doctor is Chair of the Washington State delegation to the American Medical Association, and in that capacity represents all the doctors in the state.

She is also a colleague and associate of pro-life, Christian doctors, some of whom sit on the board of our local Care-Net pregnancy resource centers.

Her name -- this is the part that she wanted to make a crime -- is Dr. Julie Komarow.

As with many other doctors involved with the local abortion industry, we have written about Dr. Komarow before. We have pointed out that she recently worked at Cedar River Clinics, the most horrific, late-term abortion clinic in the state of Washington.

Cedar River is actually involved in an ongoing medical malpractice lawsuit involving a 26 week old baby, as we will reveal in an upcoming post. Cedar River was also involved in another recent lawsuit because of an abortion they did on an Alaskan minor who was transported from her home state without her parents' knowledge and brought to Cedar River for an abortion. We will soon be exposing the depth of the clinic and staff's involvement with that scandal also.

As if that was not enough, we've also posted the interim results of an ongoing investigation into Cedar River's very questionable financial reporting.

State Must Cancel 'Take Charge', End Bogus Birth Control Boondoggle for Planned Parenthood

Readers of this blog know that we were the first to call attention to a little known state Medicaid program called Take Charge, and have worked hard to get it terminated.

So we were thrilled to discover, originally from Planned Parenthood as it turns out, that the the 10-year-old program is on the chopping block. With record budget shortfalls, Olympia is being forced against their will to find programs to cut. And the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) has indicated that all optional Medicaid programs are fair game.

Take Charge is a federally approved exception to standard Medicaid rules exclusive to Washington State. It means about 50,000 low-income women who normally are above the income cutoff for Medicaid can get free birth control for a year courtesy of taxpayers. (When liberals says 'get the government out of my sex life', they only mean when the government is encouraging the formation of new life, it turns out.)

Who is responsible for the Murder of a Million Innocent Children in Washington?

This is a true story about the “powers that be” behind the scenes in the Washington State Republican Party.

What does it mean if a Republican is an “Establishment Candidate”?

All organizations reflect the guiding ideals of their top leaders. The Washington State Republican Party “Establishment” is the “top” of the Washington State Republican Party and the Party has been guided by, essentially, the same group of people since the 1960s. Despite its grassroots being profoundly influenced in the conservative direction by Presidential politics from the national level, the Washington State Republican establishment at the state level has been most influenced by the philosophy and adherents of a single organization (as they are more than happy to tell you) founded in 1964 to turn the Party away from Goldwater conservatism. This is about their top leadership, from the outset.

Seattle Area 'Megachurch' Reconsidering Ties to HopeLink Over 'Secret Abortion Taxis'

This blog's exposing of HopeLink's involvement in taking girls to and from abortion clinics -- at taxpayers' expense -- is having some fallout.

The King County organization is best known for food drives and arranging rides for the elderly. But they make the majority of their revenue -- tens of millions of dollars -- as Medicaid Transportation contractors for the state of Washington's Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS).

Part of that work involves taking women and girls getting abortions on the taxpayers' dime to abortion clinics. As reported by AIW earlier this year, nurses at the school health clinics and Hopelink dispatchers revealed that this can even include secret abortions for high school students during school hours, like the Ballard Teen Abortion Scandal earlier this year.

King County Public Health Hires Doctor who "Loves" Doing Abortions

You may recall that King County's Public Health Department was recently embroiled in controversy because it was revealed that they had helped a teenage Ballard High School student get an abortion without her parents' knowledge.

After that story broke across the country, TJ Cosgrove, spokesman for KC Public Health, stunned the nation by saying he was completely unapologetic about the incident. He added insult to injury by adding that the girl's mother should have known this could happen when she had signed a general waiver allowing emergency medical treatment and transportation.

We have since learned more about KC Public Health's radical pro-abortion agenda. It seems that each year for the last several years they have hired one of the region's most outspoken and enthusiastic late-term abortionist as their primary "Family Planning" contracted physician.

Dr. Deboray Oyer owns and operates Aurora Medical Services, which does abortions up to 19 weeks of pregnancy. Those are fully formed, thumb-sucking babies.

Another Washington State College Attempts to Silence Pro-Life Speech

You may recall the story out of Spokane in 2009 that AIW reported on here, here and here. It concerned the speech rights of students on the campus of public colleges.

Administrators at Spokane Falls Community College "threatened Beth Sheeran and members of a Christian student group with disciplinary measures, including expulsion, if they chose to hold a pro-life event on campus to share information with other students because the message was 'discriminatory' and did not include a pro-abortion viewpoint."

Now administrators at Olympic College in Bremerton are attempting a similar attack against pro-lifers there.

According to a press release from the Anti-Choice Project, "[f]ollowing a decision made this summer by the Olympic College Board of Trustees, the state college plans to revise its free speech policies, relegating non-students who wish to exercise their First Amendment rights to an obscure location described by the school paper as the “least visible on campus”.

The new regulations were prompted after a member of the Anti-Choice Project brought signs on campus "depicting the bloody body parts of allegedly aborted fetuses."  Despite a NYT Magazine story and countless first person testimonies from people who saw an abortion take place, nearly 100% of the mainstream jounalistic population erroneously believes that these pictures are fake. Despite four years of college and a strong commitment to Darwin and the scientific method, for some mystifying reason, the aborted fetus always remain "allegedly" aborted, or perhaps "allegedly" a fetus, in the eyes of most journalists. This confusion continues in spite of various reports and newstories detailing dead babies found in jars, refrigerators, cardboard boxes and in one case a shipping container filled with thousands of dead fetuses. You'd think people still thought Obama was a Muslim.

The free-speech zone idea appears to have grown out of the good old fashioned American management technique known as, "passing the buck". "It was really a response to the students coming to this office," said Sue Riddle, executive assistant to then-Vice President of Student Services Richard MacLennan.

From there, other time-tested American contributions to civilization such as CYA, public relations and "I'm with stupid" t-shirts took over as an ad hoc committee with the Orwellian sounding name -- First Amendment Task Force -- was formed; a committee specifically designed to do the opposite of what the name implied.

According to the Anti-Choice web site, "The Anti-Choice Project has sought legal counsel at this time." I have a feeling Beth Sheeran could give some recommendations.

Let's hope the AG's office and Rob McKenna don't decide to waste more tax payer dollars to try and silence pro-lifers and keep the truth about abortion from the public like they tried to do in Spokane.

Abortion in Washington Calls on Legislature to Shut Down State's Abortion Industry

We are reprinting the following Seattle abortion story from AbortionTV.com. The abortion happened just over a decade ago, and unfortunately the abortion clinics and abortionist are not identified. But chances are they are still doing this today. There only a few individuals who do abortions this late. Was it Dr. Oyer? Was it Dr. Kothenbeutel? Was it Dr. Komarow? Was it Dr. Browne? Or was it Dr. Gibbons? We don't know.

8/14/00

Two years ago, my husband and I went into an abortion clinic in Seattle, WA. I was 26 weeks pregnant. They told me to sign a form stating that I was only 24 weeks along. They also gave me a drug to make me relax and feel sleepy. I was so nervous lying there on the table as they did an ultra sound. It was all so familiar, since I already have 3 other kids at home. Ages 1-5.

I watched the screen and saw my baby's heart beating. Then we watched our baby suck on his hand. They really did not want me to see any of this, but I insisted. I could not believe I was doing this. I looked up at my husband with tears in my eyes, trying to read his thoughts. Maybe he would have second thoughts too. But we both knew we had to go threw with it. I almost died after a c-section with our last child, and we were told that another birth would have the same results. So they took me into another room. They gave me gas to breath and they gave me pain medication.

I lied there with my legs spread apart. As I started to drift off, I was saying to myself "How can I be doing this" About 20 minutes later I was still on the table with a blue cloth draped over me. I pulled the cloth away from my face and looked over at a table a few feet from me. It took my eyes awhile to adjust, but when they did I was horrified to see my little baby boy lying on that cold table. His tiny legs were moving, and his hands were opening and closing. He made sounds like a baby bird. The nurse turned the table around when she was leaving the room, and I looked right into my sons eyes. They pierced threw me with sadness.

It was then that I saw his left arm was hanging on by only skin. When the nurse pushed the table out of the room, I thought for a while maybe my baby is going to live and they are going to take him to another room to fix him. I kind of smiled as she left the room. I was sure I would see my son again. He looked so big and just like any other baby just a little smaller. Well, I never saw him again. I am only left knowing that he suffered and died all alone because I had him murdered. I have moved on in life, but daily I wonder what ever happened to my little boy.

Forever filled with sadness

So very sorry baby boy.

We don't need to change hearts and minds. We need to stop letting this horror go on each and every day in buildings next to our dentist offices, behind our fast food restaurants, and above our offices.

Where are our political leaders? Where are our pastors and priests? Why isn't Dino Rossi running ads on TV with pictures of aborted babies lying in metal dishes looking up with arms severed, looking up at Patty Murray saying: "Choose Your America"!

Read another Washington Abortion story here.

Rossi - Didier Fight Creates Controversy over who is Pro-life

If you haven't  been following the race for the GOP slot to challenge Patty Murray, now is the time to get up to speed.

First see the ads by Washington Life coalition here and here.

Then read the response from Joe Fuiten of Cedar Park Church and Dan Kennedy of Human Life of Washington.

Then read the response to Fuiten and Kennedy from state Rep. Val Stevens.

The two biggest problems are with Fuiten's response that, 1. The bill was not about abortion and that "emergency contraception" doesn't cause an abortion. And 2. Dan Kennedy's claim that the WSCC signed off on the bill because they believed that conception would not occur in the time period provided in the bill.

Fuiten needs to read up on on "emergency contraception" and contraception in general. Both can prevent implantation of an embryo. This is called an abortion and results in the death of a human being.

As far as the WSCC and Sr. Sharon go, how in the world do Sr. Sharon and the Catholic bishops know when conception will occur? It's a completely ludicrous and absolutely illogical reason for supporting this bill.

Anyone who has had much experience with Sr. Sharon knows that defending Dino Rossi by citing Sr. Sharon Park is a little like defending Bart Stupak and the foolish "pro-life" democrats by citing Sr. Carol Keehan of the Catholic Health Association. Wouldn't exactly be my choice for a CYA in ethics but hey, in politics I guess you take what you can get.

Pro-lifers have long been suspicious of Sr. Sharon Park and I dare say that any of them look the the WSCC for leadership on legislation or action on anything pro-life related. The story of that organization, the past several bishops and the lay and religious people who run the Archiocese of Seattle is one for another day, but let's just say that the pro-life cause is just not on their agenda. Anyone who has been around pro-life work for even a very limited amount of time, say a day or two, realizes that they are NOT the go-to people as the culture circles the drain.

In this whole mess there's also the interesting fact that with SB 6537 all the other pro-life legislators in the state were able to figure out that this was a bad bill. Why didn't Dino Rossi?

Now the FDA has approved Ella, the "week after pill". That is certain to also be classified as so-called emergency contraception. Maybe Sr. Sharon can look into her crystal ball and see if any women will conceive during that time period.

Meanwhile the damage as been done and Dino Rossi did nothing to try and stop it.

"Pro-life" Pastor Supports NARAL Board Member for State Senate

Update: Pastor Fuiten has withdrawn his endorsement of Steve Litzow.

If people are wondering why the pro-life movement has achieved zero, zip, and nada in the legislature this latest information from from Terra Mork Writes may help to shed some light on the situation in the state...
Pastor Fuiten is the senior pastor of a large congregation in Bothell, Washington. He has a reputation of being outspoken about his pro-family, pro-life, socially conservative political views. Every election Pastor Fuiten publishes “Pastor’s Picks”, a trusted source for many believers who are seeking guidance on which candidates reflect their values.
According to Pastor Fuiten's web site, Pastor's Picks, he has come out in support of Steve Litzow, an unabashed supporter of abortion. Litzow has received the endorsement of both the pro-life, conservative, Christian Fuiten and the pro-abortion, liberal, athiestic NARAL Washington.

A Matter of Conscience

The Washington Life Coalition (WLC) released a brand new internet video today to appeal to pro-life voters in the state of Washington who have been led to believe they should support Dino Rossi in his bid for U.S. Senate. The video chronicles some of Rossi's statements on the issue of abortion, and then reveals an egregious vote that Rossi cast as a state senator, overlooked by the pro-life movement in Washington. The news of this vote calls into question Rossi on an issue he refers to as "a matter of conscience".

In 2002, Dino Rossi voted for SB 6537 which forces hospitals to promote emergency contraception to rape victims and provide it upon request within 72 hours of sexual contact. Emergency contraception, also known as "the morning after pill", causes an abortion if the woman is pregnant. The bill passed and is now the law in WA state. Physicians, nurses and healthcare workers in hospital emergency rooms are forced to act against their conscience, which is formed by their professional training as well as their moral, ethical and religious views.

WLC is a coalition of pro-life activists who are concerned with electing representatives in government who will uphold the unalienable rights of all: the rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. WLC encourages pro-life voters to take a close look at the other candidates in the U.S. Senate race, as well as with all races for public office, to find person(s) with the will to advance the cause of restoring these unalienable rights for all.

Planned Parenthood: Bad for the Budget Town Hall Budget Meeting in Everett Last Night

I attended the governor's town hall budget meeting in Everett Last Night.

Planned Parenthood send over a bevy of young things in pink t-shirts to adovcate for making sure the government continues to fund pills and contraptions and abortions for the state's youth. The young college student who spoke explained how she needed to make sure she was able to get her pills through Planned Parenthood.

The last time I checked, helping college students have sex wasn't a critical government service.

Pro-lifers were well represented and Ed Mohs of the Everett 40 Days for Life Campaign got on the list to speak.

Several points he made to the governor and her board of advisors and need repeating:
-Abortion is not health care.
-Abortion and contraception do not save money.
-Contraception does not prevent abortion.
-Specifically the state should immediately defund any and all Planned Parenthood family planning programs and cease funding abortions ($7 million) and the transportation to those abortion appointments.

We'd also like to point out that the Take Charge program has been a complete failure. Our expose on this program uncovered the fact that:
When the program began, the state was paying out $200 million a year for childbirth services under Medicaid. That figure has shot up 50%, to $300 million under the program.
The state’s primary subcontractor for Take Charge, Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, has seen their annual revenues skyrocket from about $17 million to near $35 million since the program was started. According to Planned Parenthood of Western Washington’s latest Annual Report, “Over the previous 5-year period, approximately 70% of our clinic visits were covered by Take Charge." The state is then left to cover the cost of an abortion or a Medicaid birth.

It's time to cut-off Planned Parenthood.

Federal law requires that this program be revenue neutral, i.e. the money spent on government provided birth control must be offset by the savings in births avoided. No data or officials responsible for monitoring the program have demonstrated that to be the case with Take Charge.

These costs don’t even take into account the cost of treating sexually transmitted diseases that are promoted through Planned Parenthood’s free-for-all approach to sexuality. Neither does it account for treating the negative side-effects of abortion and contraceptive use such as cancers of the reproductive organs, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, depression and increased drug and alcohol use.

Planned Parenthood only provides testing to diagnose STDs and cancer. They never pay a cent for treating these conditions.

Where will the money come from to treat those problems?

Dino Rossi: Not the Pro-Life Choice

Dino Rossi, one of the challengers to Democrat incumbent Patty Murray, is widely believed to be "pro-life" and "opposed to abortion".

It's time we examined the veracity of that rumor.

Washington State Capitulates, Recognizes Pharmacists' Conscience Rights

This afternoon, less than two weeks before the start of a civil rights trial in Tacoma federal court, attorneys for the State of Washington told a federal judge that the State would seek to create new rules for pharmacists with conscientious objections. The new regulations would give the plaintiffs in the lawsuit--the owners of Ralph's Thriftway pharmacy and two pharmacists--what they've wanted all along: the right to refuse to stock or dispense Plan B (the so-called "morning after pill") based on their conscientious objection.

New Pro-life Organization in Washington Issues "Reality Check" on Dino Rossi and Pro-lifers

Washington Life Coalition, a new pro-life organization in Washington state, has produced their first video titled "Little Emily" to take on politicians who indentify a "pro-life" but then claim that abortion in cases of rape, incest and life of the mother is ok.

Their first subject is much beloved politician Dino Rossi (R) who is running for Patty Murray's senate seat.

Watch the video here:

And web site here: http://www.washingtonlifecoalition.com/

For too long politicians have been able to garner support from pro-lifers even though they support abortion in the case of so-called "hard cases" -- rape, incest, and life of the mother.

This is a welcome reality check on the "pro-life" politicians and the pro-lifers who support them.

Woman Taken from Kenmore Planned Parenthood on a Stretcher

I just received this email that mentions the following incident at Planned Parenthood Kenmore:
I was next door yesterday (June 21, 2010) for a dental appointment and my car was blocked in by an ambulance and fire aid car. As I waited I saw them bring a woman out on a stretcher to the ambulance. Prayed for her and the innocent life lost.

Clint Didier: Clear Choice for Pro-life Voters

Michelle McIntyre at Life of the Party has endorsed Clint Didier for US Senate in Washington.

Clint has already been endorsed by Sarah Palin.

I agree with Michelle that pro-lifers would come to be very dissapointed in Dino if he were elected Senator. No doubt many pro-lifers will continue to support Dino in spite of Michelle's spot-on analysis and critique of Dino's statements on abortion, but the fact is that Clint Didier is the 100% pro-life candidate. Dino is not.  Clint would actually help to move the ball down the field on pro-life concerns. Dino appears apathetic.

That's going to be hard for Dino's fan club to hear but it needs to be said. Hats off to Michelle for having the guts to say it knowing that she'll probably be vilified by the GOP establishment and some pro-lifers.

Spring 40 Days for Life Campaign Ends with Baby Shower for Baby Saved from Abortion

Last fall Planned Parenthood's Everett abortion center had schedule a beautiful baby girl to die by abortion, for a fee of course.

However, fate intervened and saved the mom from a lifetime of despair and baby from death.

See the April 11th, 2010 Everett 40 Days for Life Victory Rally and baby shower pictures here.

Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce Promotes Planned Parenthood Abortion and Teen Sex Agenda

From STOPP International comes this report:

Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce magazine promotes PP intimidation tactic

We received word from a STOPPer in Walla Walla, Washington, that the local chamber of commerce is supporting Planned Parenthood’s intimidation campaign, Pledge-a-Protester, by carrying a story about the “success” of the campaign in the Chamber’s magazine, Valley Business News. Through Pledge-a-Protester, PP hopes to dissuade protestors and at the same time raise money for its failed programs, asking for contributions based on the number of protesters who show up at the PP facility.

Time to End Tax Funding of Abortions for 'Poor Little Rich Girls'

One of the most interesting revelations from the coverage of the Ballard High School 'Secret Abortion Program' by KIRO Radio's Dori Monson came when an employee of DSHS called in. The caller, who identified herself as Randi, said that not only are we one of the few states where minors can get abortions without parental notification or consent, and not only are we one of the few states where the government -- her department, to be specific -- gladly pays for abortions for low income girls and women, but in fact the taxpayer is picking up the tab for abortions even for 'poor little rich girls' from Mercer Island.

"So if a girl comes in," asked Mr. Monson, "and her family's got money, but she obviously doesn't have access to that money, and she says I can't pay for it, I don't want my parents to know, what does DSHS do?"

The Seattle Times Editorial: Secret abortions need to stay secret

If you were holding out hope that The Seattle Times' editorial board could ever break ranks with the most extremist elements of the abortion lobby, their Sunday March 28th editorial should have settled the issue once and for all.

We already knew that the radicals at The Times had never seen an abortion they didn't like, but their inability to identify the moral clarity regarding the inhumanity of brutally killing unborn children failed to prepare us for their simultaneous inability to identify the grave moral injustice when a young girl was manipulated by governmental authorities into an abortion she and the family probably did not want and certainly that she was not ready to deal with.

Planned Parenthood of Great Northwest Deepens Ties to Breast-Cancer Group

Jill Stanek at Pro-Life Pulse reports on a story that "diligent pro-lifer" Jonathan B of AIW initially brought to her attention.

Planned Parenthood's IRS 990 filings reveal that they own a 12.5 percent share in Metro Centre, a mall in Peoria, Ill.

The owner of the remaining share of the mall is the son of Nancy Goodman Brinker, the founder of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Eric Brinker denies any link between breast cancer and abortion; A belief that Stanek puts to bed rather deftly.

Read the rest here.

KIRO's Dori Monson Confirms Our Reporting on Secret Abortions

If you haven't already, make sure to listen to KIRO's Dori Monson's interview with Jim Stevenson, spokesman for the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), in Olympia. Monson confirms many of the facts we revealed about how our schools and government participate in helping high school students get secret abortions off-campus during the school day, at government expense, behind their parent's backs.

Make sure you're sitting down.

Also listen to his interview with AIW's Mary E.

Our thanks to Monson for his attention to this very important story.

Clinic that Performed Abortion on Ballard High Teen Remains Unnamed

Fox News has issued a correction to their story naming the abortion center that performed the abortion on the 15-year old Ballard High School student who was taken out of school without parental permission.

AIW's initial look at the story is here.

Hopelink Coordinates Abortion Taxi Service for Seattle Area Teens

Komo News broke a story late Tuesday about a 15-year-old Ballard High School student who was taken for an abortion in Seattle with neither her parents' knowledge nor consent.

Alas, in Washington, secret abortions on high school students are nothing new. What comes as a shock to parents like "Jill', the mother other of the aborted teen, is the seamless end-to-end system that has been set up to facilitate these abortions. This system includes the school districts, abortion industry, public health officials, the state legislature, and certain non-profits that leave nothing to chance.

One part of this story that went almost unnoticed was the fact that this girl was taken to the abortion center in a taxi.

Who paid for the taxi? How did it get to the school? Who dispatched it? Which abortion provider did it take her to? AIW has learned that taxi services to "contracting school districts throughout King County" are provided by the Redmond-based non-profit Hopelink.

Can that be right? Can an organization supported by churches and police departments be secretly operating a shuttle service to take girls from their high school classrooms in the middle of the school day to an abortion clinic, and then back to school, all without Mom and Dad finding out?

Senate Candiate Forum Recap

On February 12th, five of the candidates running against Patty Murray were introduced before a pro-life audience at a forum co-sponsored by Life of the Party and Abortion in Washington. There were eight known candidates actively campaigning at the time of the forum, all of whom were invited to participate. The five in attendance were:

Paul Akers, Dr. Art Coday, Clint Didier (represented by campaign manager Chuck Beck), Rodney Rieger, and Craig Williams. The purpose of the forum was two-fold: to find out the true convictions of each candidate and to show them that the electorate does care about their position on abortion.

"It Gets Complicated": Late term abortionist shares tips on killing, avoiding resuscitation requirements

Abortionist Deb Oyer, probably the most visible, politically active, and well connected abortionist in the state of Washington, recently gave a presentation at the University of Washington to prospesctive abortionists and teenage girls from local high schools.

Terra Mork, a bright light in the state's pro-life movement, leads off with part one of Oyer's presentation.

Oyer is a late-term abortionist who appears to be enthusiastic about her work. In a matter of fact presentation staged peacefully without fanfare on the campus of the UW, Dr. Oyer details how she perfoms abortions and ensures that the child is killed in the womb in order to prevent having to "resuscitate" a born-alive child during a failed abortion.

Catholic Seattle U Publishes Pro-abortion Opinion Piece; Decries Tim Tebow Superbowl Ad

Seattle University does it again.

In an Opinion piece published Wednesday, writer Miss Taylor Olson, sports and opinion editor for the Spectator, decries the "anti-choice" Tebow ad and encourages readers to contact Emily's List and other "progressive" organizations to sign petitions against the ad.

Seems as though the armies of feminism have successfully gagged Miss Olsen and strapped electrodes to her forehead. Sally Jenkins, pro-choice sports writer for the Washington Post, evaded the brain washing with her own editorial that has a lot to teach aspiring feminists and sports writers like Miss Olsen.

On its web site Seattle University claims to be a "Catholic university."

Sadly this isn't the first time Seattle U has produced pro-abortion garbage for consumption.

First there was the "thoughtful conversion" about "faith and reproductive justice" with a panel of pro-abortion speakers, including the chaplain for the local chapter of Planned Parenthood.

Then there was the so-called respectful dialogue on morality and health care reform;  A dialogue that the organizers denied was meant to include the primary moral issue of the day: abortion.

God help Seattle U.

If you are a Washington voter for whom the Right to Life is paramount, come and help decide who Patty Murray’s challenger should be!

Five candidates are actively campaigning for the Republican nomination: Art Coday, Clint Didier, Sean Salazar, Chris Widener, and Craig Williams. Each of them have been invited and will be asked, before a pro-life audience, the tough questions about how they will advocate restoring the unalienable Right to Life.

Washington State has been under the thumb of pro-abortion-choice senators (from both sides of the aisle) for nearly 40 years. Will 2010 be the year that changes? Only if serious pro-lifers get active in the process of determining the Republican nominee!

Come and see for yourself! Determine which of these candidates you can enthusiastically support if any. Get informed and then attend your Republican Precinct Caucus the next morning, Saturday, February 13 at 10 AM (See your county Republican Party website for details). The precinct caucuses are the beginning of the convention process. Republicans come together and elect delegates to the county convention, at which, they elect delegates to the state convention. At the state convention in June, the elected delegates will have the power to nominate the Republican challenger to Patty Murray.

Update on Anti-Crisis Pregnancy Bills SB 6452 and HB 2837 in Washington State

Yesterday in Olympia the Senate committee on Health and Long-Term care held a hearing on SB 6452 which seeks to regulate crisis pregnancy centers in a variety of unnecessary and unconstitutional ways.

The bill, promoted by Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Rights Advocacy League (NARAL), would place a series of regulations on crisis pregnancy centers that would not apply to centers that offer abortion. For those of you following along at home, yes, that is probably unconstitutional.

Seattle Archdiocese to Host Pro-Abortion Rep. Jay Inslee at Cathedral; Abortion and Euthanasia Center Representative also to Speak

Updated: 4:54 Nov. 10 --
Received notice at about 3:30 today from the Archdiocese of Seattle that the "Morality of Health Care Reform" discussion has BEEN MOVED to Seattle University. Yipee! It's still too bad that our Catholic schools feel compelled to host this kind of thing but at least they won't be defiling the Cathedral.

-----

If you haven't heard by now, St. James Cathedral has decided to host the strangely titled forum, "The Morality of Health Care Reform: The debate's missing link".

Pro-abortion legislator Jay Inslee is one of the invited speakers. He was demoted from "keynote" speaker status to panelist late last week. Laura Rehrmann, president of the Group Health Foundation and "in-charge of patient care" at Group Health Cooperative will also be on the panel. Group Health has a reputation as an abortion center and will allow doctors to assist with suicides at their "health" centers after the passage of I-1000. Ms. Rehrmann is a parishioner at St. James Cathedral.

Why is the Cathedral allowing this event to take place?

Pro-Life Action Item

Health care reform IS About saving lives NOT destroying them.

On Saturday evening, Nov. 7 the congress of the U.S. approved the Stupak-Pitt amendment to HB 3962 by a vote of 240-194. This amendment, a pro life Statement true and true said to government “remove abortion funding and mandates from health care reform” period.
Jay Inslee voted against this Amendment, in other words, support abortion at any cost, regardless of the consequences on the mothers and their preborn babies!

Only 3% of What Al-Qaeda Does is Terrorism

Suppose Al-Qaeda tried to broker sympathy by telling you that "only 3%" of what they do is terrorism. The rest is job training, running soup kitchens, community organizing, building roads, and generally trying their best to help down-trodden Muslims the world over.

Well that's exactly the same reasoning Anna Franks, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central Washington, used in talking to Pasco news reporter Hilary Whittier in response to the huge protest Sunday against her proposed abortion-referral clinic.

North Seattle Late-Term 'Killing Field' Run by Dr. Charlie Browne

You might think that with Planned Parenthood having opened up almost a dozen abortion clinics in Western Washington in the last 10 years, the blood lust of the abortionist 'community' would have been sated.

But at the beginning of January, 2008, late-term Seattle abortionist Dr. Charlie M. Browne seems to have decided to stop sharing his abortion profits with clinic overlords and opened up his own shop in North Seattle, an area that has been free of a free-standing, high-volume abortion clinic for more than a decade.

Dr. Browne used to be the Medical Director for Cedar River Clinics, the largest local chain of late-term abortion clinics. Cedar River does abortions up to "viability", currently deemed to be 24 weeks, just like his new clinic. His work there was reportedly 40 hours a week (according to IRS records obtained by AIW) and earned him more then $200,000 a year, and dates at least back to 2005.

Pasco Residents Show Up En Masse to Say NO to Planned Parenthood

Sunday, Oct 25, 2009 (Pasco) - Almost 700 residents of Pasco turned up this afternoon to send a strong and unequivocal message to the Pasco City Council: Say no to Planned Parenthood.

The council is deliberating an application from Planned Parenthood of Central Washington, an affiliate of the country's largest chain of abortion clinics, and central Washington's largest provider, to open up a new clinic in Pasco, next to Mark Twain Elementary School.

United For Life Conference this Weekend in Vancouver, Washington

Please see the web site for full details.

Below is a list of speakers.

Father Scott Daniels has been an advocate for all human life issues since seminary days. He says, “I have become ever more deeply aware of the need for more people of good faith to come forward and dedicate their lives to saving the unborn,” and “I truly believe that priests are especially invaluable to this ministry.” Father Daniels’s experience, including years of working with high school students, will help him reach younger generations and reverse the effects of moral relativism they've received from our culture. He states, “In my discernment, there is no more important issue facing the Church and humanity today than the life issues and promoting the dignity of every human person from conception to natural death.”

Monsignor Reilly of Helpers of God's Precious Infants Returns to Seattle

"There was a leg and foot in my forceps, and a 'thump, thump' in my abdomen."

There's almost nothing that can be said to prepare you adequately to read what's on this link. I would urge you to do it anyway. I will introduce it simply by explaining that it is a blog post on a blog called "The Abortioneers". This blog is, apparently, a place where abortionists come together and chat -- rather candidly -- about what it is that they do.

This post is called "Second Trimester Abortion Provision: Breaking the Silence and Changing the Discourse". It contains what at first seem like confessions from a late-term abortionist, with relatively graphic honesty about what happens in such abortions.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your America. Force yourself to read it. Force yourself to confront it.

(Hat tip to Jill Stanek for finding this.)

We Need a 'Pay Czar' to Cap Abortionist Salaries

With all this action these days from the White House to cap "excessive" salaries of CEOs, it's time to look at capping the salaries of abortion industry workers, like doctors, and executives.

It's time to get the money out of the abortion industry. There should never be a financial incentive to perform or sell an abortion. We have heard for years how the abortion industry is driven by profits and financial incentives. We can fix that.

Did you know that Planned Parenthood of Western Washington (PPWW) CEO Chris Charbonneau pulls down almost $260,000 a year. We've documented some of the outrageous salaries being made by abortion industry workers, especially the doctors that do the actual killing, here.

Looking at the most recent figures from Cedar River Clinics, the Western Washington abortion chain which are also the only non-hospital facilities that do horrific abortions right up to the 6th month of pregnancy, that are actually illegal in most Western European countries, we see that Dr. Charlie Browne made $217,175 in 2007.

That's a paltry sum compared to his colleague Dr. Robert Kothenbeutel, who took home almost $305,000. Amazingly, Cedar River also was employing two full-time anesthetists: Douglas L. Raber and Dennis O Johnston. Anesthesia is only used for surgical abortions, and then mostly for the grisly second trimester abortions Cedar River specializes in.

Raber managed to make $190,000, considerably higher than the average for his specialty.

One of the premises of the current obsession with scrutinizing how much money CEOs are making in this country is a recognition of how money can "incentivize" an unethical and aggressive approach to sales of things which should not be aggressively sold.

Everyone -- abortion providers conspicuously notwithstanding -- pays lip service to the idea that reducing the number of abortions is a Good Thing. From this it irresistibly follows that we should never allow there to be a financial incentive to sell abortion.

The way to do that is to cap the salaries abortion providers can make. There are numerous ways this can be done. We suggest that the Washington State Legislature pass a law that says that no doctor can make more than 10% of his income from the provision of abortion services.

The abortion industry can squawk all it wants claiming they're not in it for the money. But if you speak to those who have come out of that industry and blown the whistle, we find out the truth.

Carol Everett used to run a chain of abortion clinics in Texas. She has since gone very public about how the pursuit of profits drove them to sell as many abortions as possible.

A new movie, Blood Money, goes into great detail on this problem.

For the record, in 2007 we spoke with PPWW spokesman Brian Cutler and asked him if Planned Parenthood's doctors would be willing to back up his claim that they were not in this "for the money" by doing abortions "pro bono". Needless to say, he said they had declined.

While some in the medical profession will whine that "this is a legal medical service" and doctors "deserve to get paid for their services", the fact is that countless doctors donate their time and talents both here and abroad.

In many other Western European countries, and Canada, the notion that medicine should be "non-profit" has widespread acceptance. We are not arguing that we should adopt the same notion across all real medicine, just making the point that the government stepping in to a certain, specific area of the economy and eliminating financial incentives to sell something that should never be "sold" has plenty of precedent.

Yes, the time for abortion salary caps is now. The time for a Washington State Abortion Pay Czar is today. This cause should truly bring together Left and Right and unite us on some common ground.

DSHS Holds Regular Planning Meetings with Abortion Providers, Divulges Names of Citizen Watchdogs

Would you expect that if you file a request with the state government as to how much an organization is receiving in state funds that the government would disclose your name to the organization in question?

Well, if you're dealing with the Take Charge Family Planning program at the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), that's apparently what you should expect.

In 2008, we submitted a complaint to the Attorney General's office regarding the late-term abortion clinic chain known as Cedar River Clinics. In the response to that complaint, Cedar River director Beverly Whipple indicated that she knew this writer had requested information from DSHS about payments (tax dollars) to her organization.

There is no way Ms. Whipple should have known this.

We had filed a "Public Disclosure" request with DSHS to find out how much money DSHS had given to Cedar River in previous years in the form of Medicaid insurance payments.

(Cedar River Clinics does abortions up to 24 weeks, and even does secret abortions on teenage girls spirited out of other states without their parents' knowledge.)

While there may not be an absolute legal guarantee of privacy in such cases, most would expect that their name wouldn't be passed along to the organization under scrutiny. At least not without some sort of consequence.

We confronted a DSHS official about this. Her answers were woefully inadequate, and mostly incoherent.

One of her arguments was that it was good for organizations receiving government money to know that there are individuals keeping them accountable. She couldn't explain why that required the citizen's actual name from being disclosed.

She then suggested that the name might have been disclosed inadvertently at one of the "regular meetings" that this official, on behalf of DSHS, holds with the state's "family planning" agencies.

These meetings apparently include the Cedar River Clinic abortion chain, and the Planned Parenthood affiliates of Washington, including PP of Central Washington (which does what amount to coerced abortions), and PP of Spokane (which has been illegally overbilling Medicaid for years), and PP of Western Washington (which is doing 50% more abortions than it was just 3 years ago, while making millions of dollars in profits off emergency contraception).

We didn't know about these meetings, and this certainly didn't qualify as an excuse.

The bottom line was that this official seemed unperturbed by the privacy violation, and while she claimed she would "look into it", there have been no developments from "this investigation". And we don't expect any.

What we have learned is that the government (DSHS) admits to holding regular strategy meetings with the abortion industry to see how they can help each other, and these meetings include chit-chat, with private details, about members of the public who might be getting in their way. Ladies and gentlemen: welcome to the Land of Gregoire.
